WHAT IS MUNGU?
June has been an incredible month for MUNGU ACADEMY. As MUNGU hits its one year anniversary, we want to look back on all the amazing things we have been able to accomplish. First off, we would not be able to be where we are at without your amazing support and donations. We started 1 year ago with a dream to give as many young African soccer players as we can to play professional soccer or get university scholarship through soccer. It was our vision to help these youth out not only with soccer, but creating difference makers to send out across the globe to spread seeds of love to all those around them. When we started, we didn’t have a coach, field, jerseys, equipment or funding. In just this past year, through your help MUNGU has:
- Increased team size to 35
- New jerseys, gear, full coaching staff,
- Sponsored 20 MUNGU kids to get education, food, shelter, community, and proper gear.
- Obtained our own soccer field.
Over $15,000 in donations.
Over 100 email subscribers.
Crazy what God has done this year! Thank you all for everything you have done to make these kids dreams start to become a reality.
This mission starts with each child at a young age. Many of our children come from fatherless homes, don’t live with their parents, or are dependent on MUNGU for their daily food and basic needs. MUNGU is here to show them love, give them community, meet their needs, as well as disciple them as they grow in relationship with God. We believe these components are necessary to raise up a powerful and loving generation of African men!
Join our Sponsorship Program for only $34/month and create a genuine relationship with one child who needs your help.

We want this to be more than just you sponsoring a child, but rather a relationship. You will receive pictures of your child and their family as well as them in action on the field, as well as personal letters and notes about how much your help goes in their lives.
We are still seeking 15 more sponsors so that all the boys are covered for their school expenses, which will allow us to use the other one time donations towards other expenses and essentials. In terms of big needs moving forwards - please pray that we can find a school that can partner with us in Entebbe that would allow all our boys to go to the same place. Along with this we are seeking a place that can become a residence for the boys. Here our boys can live in one place closer to their families and in a setting where they can grow spiritually, educationally and soccer wise.
JUNE OUTREACH
For this past month's outreach we took the opportunity to visit Foodie Steck Orphanage Kasenyi. With many of our players having also been orphaned it was a wonderful opportunity to pour into those who are sometimes overlooked as well as remind our men of God’s faithfulness in their own lives. Our boys and coaches spent time sharing the word of God, hearing the other childrens’ stories, encouraging them and singing praises to God. Sharing the love of Christ with those in our community is at the heart of who we are and what we do at MUNGU FC and our boys are learning that. Along with fellowshipping we were able to provide some food for the orphanage to help carry their financial burdens as well as provide some sanitary items for girls at the orphanage. We are so grateful to be able to teach the boys to give back to their communities thanks to your generous support.
CONTINUING NEEDS
Looking Forward:
This next year is going to be big for MUNGU. We are planning on building our own fully equipped facilities, including kitchens, dormitories, and turf soccer field. This will cement MUNGU as the leading Soccer academy of Uganda and will aid in getting these players recognized on a national level. On top of this, our goal for this next year is to make sure all 35 of our academy players are fully sponsored. This give each child the necessities of life to make sure each child is thriving, not just surviving. THE BEST SOCCER TALENT IN AFRICA!
There has been a lot of soccer going on this past month or so. We were involved in the Kawanda tournament earlier in the month and our U-14 team were victorious, winning 3, tying 1, and scoring 11 goals and letting in just 2. We went on to win the final 3-0, and bring home another trophy - all the while showing Christ-like character on the field. Along with one or two other friendlies we were also involved in the Tanda tournament. Our U-12’s sadly did not make it out of a tough group, our U-14’s made it to the semi-finals and our U16 team made it to the final but were not able to get past that last hurdle - eventually losing the game on penalties. Once again we are so thankful to be able to go to opportunities like this because of you giving generously.
